Startup Q&A with Ela Parem

Startup Q&A with Ela Parem

As part of the series "Startup Q&A @co:hub66" we regularly present regional startups and give interested and future founders insights about individual success stories as well as "tips from founders for founders".

This week we asked Tanimara Schwender from Ela Parem questions about founding and the success story of the Saarland-based startup.

Who are you?

We are two friends from Saarland and founded Ela-Parem a year ago.

Laura and I have worked in the social sector before and always wanted to help people.

Then Corona came along, people isolated themselves and I realized that something had to be changed about that, worked on myself a lot and that's how our own startup was born.

We focus on combining health management, art, flow, crafts, therapeutic interdisciplinary teams, tourism, experiential education, personal development, and gastronomy to create a sense of happiness as well as time savings through our holistic offerings.

What problem do you want to solve?

We want to bring more connectedness into the world, because through Corona and social distancing and we have noticed that it has also done lasting harm to many, even if it no longer seems so. In many countries people work together and interact with each other, but here in Germany there is still a lot of bullying in the working world or people come to their jobs like zombies. We want to create that more with each other and as a result of this then work faster and more efficiently and individuals have additionally a place of self-discovery.

We also want to combine the wide range of different services that are available to work on health, social gatherings, personal development, child care, etc. and thus create a time saving in everyday life.

What are your most important company values?

  • Health

  • Connectedness

  • Authenticity

  • Freedom

What was the biggest mistake you have made so far?

I should have looked more into marketing before I started the startup.

What advice would you give to other startups?

Before you start, you should be very clear with your personality, so you should not have your own struggle in you, because it is already very time-consuming to found a startup.

However, networking is also a very important factor. At first it seems that you don't get any added value from it, because you don't get any monetary effect, but after a while people come up to you who know you and you get more help from different areas.

Also, you have to let more help. For example, we get funding, which we are very grateful for, or you should consider programs like Unternehmergeist, Accelerator, etc.

Can you tell us three other startups that you find interesting?

What is your vision for the next five years?

Unfortunately, we don't have enough money to buy our own property yet, but we know we will own our first small property in the next few years. Until then, we are building at least four of the above areas externally in advance.

What would be your dream collaboration?

Laura would love to collaborate with Café Susann or with companies that take advantage of our corporate health management.

If your startup was a song, what song would it be?

"Bloom" by The Paper Kites, as it represents relaxation and connection.

We wish the entire team of Ela Parem continued success and are happy to have been given an insight into another Saarland startup success story!
